A Fast-Tracked project delivered on time and within budget.
This $55 million A+B Contract the “Central Project” widened a five-mile stretch of U.S. Route 101 in Sonoma County, from just north of Pepper Road in Cotati to Rohnert Park Expressway. The new lanes will function as High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, commonly known as “car-pool lanes.”
In addition to the new lanes, the project provided new sound walls along the highway; widened existing bridges at Copeland Creek, Laguna de Santa Rosa Creek; Sierra Ave and replaced the interchange of Highways 101 and 116, and Railroad Avenue undercrossings.
This project is another one of the Corridor Mobility Improvement Act (CMIA) Measure funded project and was partially administered by the Sonoma County Transportation Authority (SCTA).
Sunny Jhutti’s role on this project was the Principal Assistant Structure’s Representative for Caltrans and reviewed technical submittals such as the Hwy 101/116 Separation, Sierra Ave, and Railroad Ave Falsework Review, various shoring reviews, the Bridge Removal Plans for all bridges, Temporary MSE Walls, Temporary Jacking Plan, and the Concrete Mix Designs.
Value Added to the Client
Keeping traffic moving on the heavily-used SR 101 route through stage construction while the new bridges were being built and finishing the project within the 270 WD stipulation of the contract.
Sunny Jhutti’s provided the review off all major technical submittals on this project, allowing the rest of the staff to focus on field level inspections.
