Large-scale Tieback Walls along the Sonoma Coast.
The largest of these walls was an over 30 ft tall by nearly ½ mile tieback wall with steel soldier piles and timber lagging. The wall consisted of two levels of tieback held together with concrete walers.
Sunny Jhutti’s role on this project was the Structure’s Representative for Caltrans and reviewed technical submittals such as the Pre-stressed Shop Drawings, Welding Quality Control Plan, Painting Quality Work Plan, CIDH placement plan, and the Concrete Mix Designs.
Value Added to the Client
This project was performed while keeping traffic moving on the heavily-used SR 1 through construction.
Sunny Jhutti was involved in reducing a Contractor’s Post-Construction Differing-Site Condition claim for “difficult drilling” by having accurate and details drill logs for each and every pile drilled. This saved the Department nearly $200,000.
