We take time with the contractor to explain our engineering approach, and are willing to explore different structural systems or material to ensure workable solutions are implemented. No design is set in stone and we are willing to explore a more efficient and less expensive construction methods.

Having a Construction Management background, we have a strong understanding of how things are built, but also understand the constraints of a builder/contractor – long lead-times on material procurement, transportation of materials, physical constraints, high-cost of labor, regulatory and environmental restrictions, and of course – schedule.

Substrate, Inc is a local Structural Engineering and Construction Management firm that has completed hundreds of projects in the Bay Area.  We are familiar with the building department, local agencies, the local codes and the Bay Area building industry.

We offer Value Engineering Services to help find more efficient ways to approach a project and ways to save money, time & materials. 

Our Construction Engineering Services are typically geared towards Bridge & Highway Contractors, who require temporary structure submittals for adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements.
