First Collaborative for High Performing School in the US.

The design of this 2009 Northbay Business Journal’s Number 1 Construction Project of the year began in 2008 under ZFA Principal Robin Wendler. Sunny Jhutti was on the design team.

The school won the 1st Collaborative for High Performance School (CHPS)’s entire Green Campus was in the United States and brought a lot of pride to the City of American Canyon that desperately needed a new school campus to meet it’s growing needs.

The new campus was comprised of several buildings which two & three-story Steel Special Concentrically Braced Frames (SCBF) as the lateral force resisting system. The design included heavy detailing requirements for the SCBF’s.

Cost of construction was $60 million.

Value Added to the Client

We successfully analyzed, designed and detailed the structure in RISA 3D to meet the 2007 CBC, 2006 IBC and ASCE 7-05.

We worked to ensure this project was reviewed and approved by the Division of the State Architect (DSA)
