Pre-1972 Hospital – Evaluated with ASCE31 – Performance-based code.
The evaluation of the 4-story 1972 Wing of the Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa was performed according to the Tier 1 and Tier II requirements of ASCE31. This document is a performance-based prescriptive code to help evaluate the adequacy of existing buildings.
This building consisted of pre-1972 Steel Moment Frame construction.
Value Added to the Client
We successfully performed the Tier 1 & Tier II (displacement based) requirements of the 1972 Wing of the hospital and found that although the connections do not meet the strict detailing and ductility requirements for seismic steel moment frames, the building are still safe for life safety.
