Wilfred Avenue Interchange

Bridging the Gap between Rohnert Park’s retail centers.

Located in Rohnert Park, Sonoma County, this $40 million project modifies the Wilfred Avenue/Golf Course Drive Interchange by constructing a new bridge undercrossing structure linking Wilfred Avenue to Golf Course Drive, and modifying the existing ramps.

The Commerce Ave Bridge Structure and The Wilfred Offramp Viaduct Structure were completed replaced. This project also involved realignment and widening of Route 101 from 4 to 6 lanes for High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes from the Rohnert Park Expressway Overcrossing to the Santa Rosa Avenue Overcrossing, a length of approximately 1.6 miles.

This project is another one of the Corridor Mobility Improvement Act (CMIA) Measure funded project and was partially administered by the Sonoma County Transportation Authority (SCTA).

Sunny Jhutti’s role on this project was the Principal Assistant Structure’s Representative for Caltrans and reviewed technical submittals such as the Wilfred Offramp Viaduct and Commerce Falsework Review, various shoring reviews, the Bridge Removal Plans, Temporary MSE Walls, the CIDH Placement Plans, and the Concrete Mix Designs.

Value Added to the Client

Keeping traffic moving on the heavily-used SR 101 route through stage construction while the new bridges were being built.

Since Sunny Jhutti’s company also played a role in the NCRA Railroad that traveled past the Commerce Blvd Bridge, he assisted in Partnering with the SMART/NCRA agencies and expedited Bridge Demolition and Falsework Construction over those railroad tracks.
