Replacing a fire damaged home with a constructability friendly design
This home was built on a flat lot in Mark West Springs in an area devastated by the Tubbs Fire. This house consists of a large main floor and garage with an upstairs bonus room.
Our role was primarily structural and the idea was designing the home around the owner-builder’s construction preferences. This included utilizing 12” wide footing to accommodate the width of the owner excavator. And creating a level pad and excavating down 3 ft to create a crawlspace.
Value Added to the Client
As mentioned about the design was intended to accommodate the equipment and construction means and methods of the owner-builder. The use of Simpson Wood Strong wall encouraged due to ease of construction.
