Award Winning, Wide Spans, Long Cantilevers, Glass-on-Glass Effect.

The design of this award-winning home was performed by a Robert Swatt of Swatt/Meier Architects. The structural design was performed by a firm in the east bay. We provided construction management services as it was found that design lead to costly construction and field installation concerns due to the amount of structural steel used in the design.

The homes consisted of a massive three-dimensional frame used to allow for the glass-on-glass effect the owner wished to achieve. The home consisted of long wide spans, long steel cantilevers, and substantial use of structural steel.

The home won the 2010 Builders Choice Award under the “Grand Category” in Builder Magazine Oct, 2010.

Value Added to the Client

In the difficult position of administering the construction management contract of a structural design by others, we were involved in every major inspection and visit several times to clarify details. We insured that the building met the general conformance of the design intent. We also ensure that the building was approach by the building department.

We worked with the steel fabricator to ensure that the structural steel fit together and met the requirement of the engineering drawings.
